1:1 ABA Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a research based intervention strategy with the goal to teach functional skills, decrease dysregulated behaviors, and bring about meaningful and positive change.

ABA is an outcomes-focused approach that creates individualized treatment plans unique to each person’s needs and goals. There is no one-size-fits-all treatment, and each personalized plan focuses on academics, language, play, social, and daily living skills in every step of the process.

There are misconceptions that ABA therapy only takes place at a table with repetitive trials, or that it teaches children to only do things for external motivators and often creates a robot-like child. This is just not true. Marissa Bennett Consulting individualizes treatment for all kids, finding a fun and interactive natural environment to guide them down the path to success.

  • Intake & Observation
Our process begins with a phone call from an MBC Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to learn more about your family and listen to your goals and concerns. Next, the BCBA will set up a time to meet your child at our practice, and determine which assessment fits their needs. During our time together, we’ll utilize research-based assessments including VBMAPP, ABLLS, AFLS, and PEAK. We also will arrange to observe your child completing every day tasks at home, such as the mealtime routine.
  • Parent Discussion of Findings
After the BCBA has reviewed and compiled the results of your child’s assessments and observations, they will set up a parent meeting to go over their written report. The behavioral analyst will then begin collaborating with you to develop an individual treatment plan that best addresses your child's goals, as well as a timeline for completing those goals. We will also discuss your own goals and involvement, a behavior plan to help you directly address any maladaptive or dysregulated behavior, and the amount of treatment hours recommended.
  • The Therapeutic Relationship
Once your child’s treatment plan is established, our amazing administrative staff will work with you to identify a start date and schedule. A Registered Behavior Therapist (RBT) will collaborate with your BCBA to establish goals and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship with your family. MBC utilizes a variety of teaching procedures based on your child's learning profile and needs.
  • Continued Coaching, Supervision & Collaboration
The BCBA will return to your home as both a parent collaborator and a supervisor, overseeing the the RBT and the treatment plan’s progression. As programs and objectives are mastered, new ones are added until the BCBA and your family feel that your child has met their goals.

Parent Collaboration

Family involvement is at the core of Marissa Bennett Consulting. Our parent collaboration services help guardians understand their child’s behavior, and provide the best strategies so that your child develops healthy responses and skills.

Your home is where life happens daily, which is why we emphasize practicing ABA treatment in the home and various other locations. In doing so, you are exposing your child to a greater variety of skills and family involvement, and feeling empowered in your own role.

Our Step-By-Step Program:

Toilet Training

Toilet training is a developmental milestone, and many families struggle with the process. Your child may not be able to tell you, or might lack necessary language skills, to communicate their need to use the bathroom. In fact, most children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other developmental challenges take more time to understand the connection between the sensation of needing to use the bathroom versus actually doing so.

We’ll help you and your child as they master this lifelong skill and gain independence, comfort, and confidence. We’ll come up with a clear, step-by-step plan, collecting information on your child's toileting profile, conducting parent consultations, and providing in-home training.

Together, we’ll make toilet training a stress-free, positive experience for the whole family.
